PUNK research.

The subculture punk, centres around punk rock music (loud and aggressive rock music called punk rock) but includes many different forms of expression such as, film, literature, fashion. In started in the mid 1970's in the UK, America and Australia. Most punks had an anti-establishment view, non conformity and individual freedom.

Punks were very theatrical with there fashion and appearance. They used, fashion, hairstyles, body modification, piercings and cosmetics to express their views. They would adapt everyday objects and use them in their looks, like a t-shirt covered in safety pins, studs, buttons etc. They wore leather and Dr. Martens, creepers and converse were footwear that Punks would wear. Some punks saw their body as political statement expressing disgust for what was classed as socially normal. They wanted to shock people and make the public feel uncomfortable. Gender wasn't an issue, women could look like men, and the men could look like women. This meant it wasn't unusual to see women with shaved heads, or the men cross dressing and wearing make up. They created a new cultural space for all kinds of gender expression. Some say it was hard to be female and still be a punk because they were almost forced to reject the femininity.

The Sex Pistols gave punks their slogan 'No future' which came from the song 'God save the Queen'  as many punks expressed anhacist views.
